Giving Thanks

Happy day-before-Thanksgiving!

While I try to be grateful every day of the year, tomorrow is the official day that we celebrate all we have to be thankful for in our lives. I feel like this holiday couldn't come at a better time in my life.

These last six months have been full of changes; changes that are positive but still have caused some stress. Matthew and I are planning a wedding, I started a new full-time job and a new part-time job, I've been training for several half marathons with intermittent injuries and I've been trying to maintain and/or lose weight. To be honest, it's been a bit of a struggle. My old routine was great and allowed me to lose 50 pounds. Eventually, I'll find the right rhythm and I'll feel more in control of my life.  Eventually :-)

There's a saying I have in my office that I reflect on when feeling especially overwhelmed: "If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back." So true, right?

My problems aren't even really problems. Yeah, I might get stressed out and frustrated and overwhelmed sometimes, but I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams. In honor of tomorrow's holiday, I've gathered up a short list of some of the reasons I have to be thankful this year, listed in no particular order:

I am so grateful that I have a job that allows me to make an impact on students' lives while working alongside some really amazing and wonderful people

Healthy, non-fractured feet, that allow me to run for miles and miles.

Family, and friends who are more like family, that I can always depend on.

Weight Watchers: a program (and job!) that helps me
make better choices and helps me reach my goals.

Meeting blog readers in person is such a cool experience! This blog has helped me meet
so many inspirational people: (clockwise from left) Elana, Liz, Cecilia.

This sweet boy brings so much joy into my life. I am thankful for our pup, Koda.

These people need no introduction. Our running ohana make me grateful every day.

This man, whom I get to call my husband, in just a few months. Words will never express
my gratitude for his love, commitment, and dedication to me and our family. He's simply the greatest man I know.

I have a lot of reasons to be thankful. What about you? What are you thankful for this year?

Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope this post finds you happy, healthy and enjoying your holiday with the people you love.

Growing up, it was tradition for each person around the table to share what they were thankful for before we ate ourselves into a coma. In following that tradition, here's a list of what I'm thankful for this year:

These guys. It's a joy to come home to this little family every day. I'm so grateful for Matthew and Koda in my life.

My heart.

Best Running Friends. I would have never made it through my stress fracture this year without the love and support from some of my best running buddies. There are way too many to name here but you know who you are :-)

Ohana.

Family. My family and Matthew's family are so good to us. It's hard not to be grateful for all they've done for us. And we've made some pretty awesome memories this year :-)

Ziplining, running, and trips to NYC.

#wwchat community. It's amazing how people you meet on the internet can become such a force for good in your life. I'm thankful for the #wwchat community and especially thankful for Dani who started and hosts this weekly chat.

The one and only Dani!

A fellow #wwchat-er Jessie and me at the Jingle Jungle 5k.

Health. I'm thankful for healthy lungs, heart, and legs that carry me wherever I want to go.

Happy feet!

YOU! You, dear blog reader, are a reason I have to be thankful. Thank you for reading, thank you for your comments and emails, thank you for motivating and inspiring me every day. Y'all are awesome.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
