AM: 1/26/15

Well hellooooooo, Monday! It feels like forever since I've done an AM post. The last few weeks were pretty hectic but now that my life is back to its normally scheduled routine, let's talk about this past week's accountability.

Training:
Monday- This core workout from Runner's World. AMAZING. Best part- no crunches!
Tuesday- 4 miles with a running group, 12:42 pace
Wednesday- Runner's World core workout
Thursday- Rest day
Friday- 6.1 miles with Matthew, 12:12 pace
Saturday- 15 minutes on the recumbent bike, strength workout (biceps, squats, quads, chest), 2 mile walk with "Walk Away the Pounds"
Sunday- Short recovery run with Matthew. Tried 30:30 intervals and felt pretty awesome. 13:43 pace

12.94 total miles.

This week's training is brought to you courtesy of my awesome new Oiselle training journal that Steph sent to me! I absolutely love the idea of keeping a handwritten journal- it's something I haven't done in such a long time.

Isn't it beautiful?

Also- here's a little update on my stress fracture foot: it still freaking hurts. Not as much as before, but still, I had hoped to be better by now. Even worse, last weekend I stepped on my left foot (the good foot) kind of weird and now I have what feels like stress fracture pain somewhere between my third and fourth metatarsal at the base of my toes. It would be my luck to fracture the OTHER foot now wouldn't it? I have an appointment with my orthopedic doctor on Wednesday to see what's going on with these wonky feet I have. Hopefully all is good and I can keep training.

Nutrition:
One of my and Matthew's resolutions was to eat at home more often in 2015. So I have been cooking up a storm lately- and even meal prepping on Sundays! Who the heck am I?! But really, it's saving us money and saving me Weight Watchers points. Here's my new favorite grab and go breakfast:

Cook ahead of time: 1/2 pound of ground turkey (I use 85% lean) and egg whites (I use the small container, approximately 10 egg whites)

- Reheat 1/4 of the turkey/egg mix
- Toast a Thomas's Bagel Thin
- Spread two wedges of Laughing Cow cheese on the bagel.
- Use the turkey/egg mix as sandwich filling between the two halves of the bagel.
- Enjoy!

It's 8 PPV for the entire sandwich and keeps me full until lunch. And it's super yummy. And really easy to throw together before work.

Weight-loss:
142.4 as of 1/21/15
-3.4 from previous week
-48 since January 2013
-59.6 since HW

Woohoo!! The plateau has officially been broken! For the last eight weeks I have been losing and gaining the same two pounds. It was awesome to see a significant loss this week.

I did two things differently: 1. I ate less fruit. 2. I didn't use my 49 weekly "extra" points. I think these two changes helped significantly in finally seeing a loss on the scale. It's getting tough to lose weight the closer I get to goal- I have to change some things up and not keep relying on what helped me lose the first 48 pounds. That's still insane to think about- I've lost 48 freaking pounds! Crazy. Here's to another week closer to goal :-)

How is your 2015 shaping up so far?

  1. Since you and Matthew are trying to eat at home more, have you checked out skinnytaste.com yet? She has a TON of slimmed-down recipes on there and lists the WWPV for each serving with the recipe. My roommate and I have been making meals Sunday nights and eating the leftovers for the rest of the week. Most of the recipes are easy enough that even a beginner cook can do. Last night we made sirloin with a arugula and penne salad topped with Parmesan and caramelized onions all for only 9 WWPV. So good!

    1. Yes! I use her website along with a ton of WW cookbooks. My problem is that I have to buy ingredients I'll use more than once- to stretch my dollar as far as it will go. And then actually follow through and cook what I said I would- lol.

  2. My 2015 is going well so far. I'm into my fourth week on WW and I have lost 6.2 pounds! I started my Jeff Galloway e-coaching training, and he is making me go more slowly than I would have planned and making me increase my mileage very slowly. The goal is to complete Dopey next year without any injuries, and I figure that he knows better than I do, so I am just going to do whatever he says! :)

    1. That's what I say all the time- the man is an Olympian! I trust his training :-) And way to go on the weight-loss! Keep it up!!

  3. My 2015 has been pretty good so far. Since beginning my Believe journal on Dec 29, I've run 69.6 miles including all three Inagural Star Wars races! I'm loving tracking my miles and keeping notes on how they felt. I've been struggling with left knee pain off and on for nearly a year. I hope tracking the symptoms and potential contributing factors will help me keep it under control.

I must admit, I am a self confessed Oiselle addict and proud member of the Oiselle Flock. Such an inspiring company!

I wish you many happy miles in 2015!

    1. This is my first Oiselle "thing" so I'm super excited to start a collection! How were the Star Wars races? We are eyeing them up for next winter :-) Congrats on the miles so far!!

    2. The Star Wars races were great! Everybody had fun with the theme (they even played the original trilogy at the Expo and at the start lines). My favorite thing about running at Disneyland is the spectator support and the Star Wars Half was no different. There must have been 4-5 HS bands and cheerleeding groups. My favorite part was in Garden Grove where there were two separate streets lined with cosplayers dressed in Star Wars costumes that rivaled those in the park!

I'm hoping to run the Rebel Challenge again next year!

    3. Awesome! We absolutely LOVED our trip west a few years ago for the inaugural Dumbo Double Dare. We can't wait to go back!
